“You need to understand that you can endlessly put pressure on partners, but once this partner ceases to“ step on his throat ”and yield in his economic interests, he begins to defend them ... Washington’s attempt to regulate the situation in its interests is not market ways, and administrative and voluntaristic, ”said Novikov.

According to him, in recent years, the United States has tightened its economic relations with allied countries.

“The US policy is to, on the one hand, force its allies to bear a greater burden in matters of joint defense, but on the other hand, this is not offset by economic preferences. On the contrary, the US economic policy and cooperation with partners is based on increasingly rigid approaches, ”the deputy added.

At the same time, Novikov noted that a radical revision of the US sanctions policy should be expected only in case of a change of mood in Washington itself.

Earlier, the head of the Bundestag committee on energy, Klaus Ernst, did not rule out that Germany could introduce penalties for gas from the United States in the event of continued pressure on the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project.

In this way, he reacted to the bill introducing new sanctions on the gas pipeline to the US Senate.

Commenting on the introduction of the bill in the US Senate, the State Duma noted that such a sanctions policy is contrary to the laws of a market economy.
