It is by analyzing thousands of emails and letters from motorists that our colleagues from Auto Plus magazine have established a ranking of brands according to their reliability. The investigation retained only cars manufactured after 2012, and having a mileage lower than 150,000 km.
In the top 3, we find Asian manufacturers: Toyota in first place, Suzuki then, and Kia to complete the podium. Next come European brands, with Seat in 4th position, followed by Mini, Dacia and VW. The French are however not at the party, since Renault arrives only 11th, Peugeot 14th and Citroën 15th.
More surprisingly, the premium German brands are not more efficient: BMW comes in 12th position, Mercedes is 17th and Audi 19th.
Finally, the good last one is Nissan, which has experienced serious reliability problems, including fragile turbos on the diesels, clutch damage on the Qashqai and excessive oil consumption on the 1.2 DIG-T engine.
