Among Corona19 patients, there are many cases that do not feel the smell and taste, and in rare cases, they may have convulsions as if the brain is inflamed. Studies have shown that these symptoms are due to the virus entering the brain through the olfactory nerve.

For more information, a medical journalist Cho Dong-chan will tell.

<Reporter> As a

result of investigating corona19 patients with mild symptoms, the Daegu City Medical Association reported that 15.3% of 3,191 people had poor olfactory and taste functions.

Women appeared evenly across all age groups, and men stood out among young people in their 20s and 30s.

The reason was that the Corona19 virus penetrated the olfactory nerve into the brain.

When an Italian research team took MRI of the brain of a 25-year-old Corona 19 patient 4 days after the onset of symptoms, white inflammation was observed in the olfactory bulb where the olfactory nerves gathered into the brain, and the whitening of the brain also moved.

After 28 days of brain MRI, the whitening inflammation subsided, but the area responsible for the olfactory nerve became thinner.

The loss of olfactory function may persist.

The path to the brain's brain penetration has been revealed, which explains why Corona19 suffers from convulsions like encephalitis or suffers from movement disorders like spinal cord disease.

But experts' concerns don't stop there.

This is because the corona19 virus cannot be ruled out if the brain or spinal cord has been incubated for a long time, even after being cured.

A study by the University of Cincinnati in the United States found that corona 19 symptoms of hyperaltitude and dyspnea were also associated with worsening symptoms.
