The Government has announced that the situation has been redirected with the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) and with its president, Antonio Garamendi, and that he has once again sat down at the table for social dialogue with the Government and unions.

This was stated by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, in an informal conversation with the media after the press conference held this Sunday in Moncloa at the end of the telematic conference with regional presidents.

The president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi, said on Friday, during a virtual meeting organized by APD, that the employers did not get up from the table of social dialogue, but "did not sit down when others had already done it and talked about things. "

On May 21, Garamendi announced that the employers considered the social dialogue suspended after the agreement reached between the PSOE government and Unidas Podemos and EH Bildu to address the repeal of the labor reform.

The employer's president pointed out that the social dialogue was "on hold" and wondered why they were going to sit at a table "if they had already decided what to do at the table, if the menu of the day is ready" . "That they no longer count on us," he said then.

Last Friday Garamendi clarified that the employers "did not get up from the table", but suspended it and that it did so to attract attention "out of pure responsibility", since "the agreement to repeal the labor reform was to completely skip the dialogue social from top to bottom. "

"We could not, under any circumstances, we had to pose this matter very emphatically," he said, referring to the agreement between PSOE, United We and EH Bildu to repeal the labor reform.

Regarding the reform itself, he insisted that it is the worst time to carry it out. "There is a key word that is trust, when we talk about there having to be money and investors, both Spanish and foreign, the word trust is key," he added.

The CEOE president also publicly thanked the third vice president of the Government, Nadia Calviño, said that "it is not the way", referring to the labor reform. Garamendi acknowledged that it is true that at the moment this is stopped (the repeal of the labor reform) and that it is included in the Government agreement. In addition, he made it clear that if it is done within the framework of social dialogue, entrepreneurs would always be present.

ERTE AGREEMENT

On the other hand, this Wednesday, June 3, the month in which the extension of the temporary employment regulation files (ERTE) will end, the technical table will meet to evaluate in which sectors this tool extends until the end of year.

Social agents together with the Government have been working in recent weeks to analyze the sectors most damaged by the coronavirus crisis. At this week's meeting, it is possible that a proposal will be debated as a result of what was discussed during the past week, according to sources familiar with the meeting.
