Consumer sentiment remains low for the first time in five months The Cabinet Office Consumption Trend Survey May 29, 14:55

According to a survey of consumption trends conducted by the Cabinet Office, the index showing consumer sentiment, which has fallen to a record level due to the spread of new coronavirus infections, rose slightly this month.

This month's index was 24.0, rising for the first time in 5 months, 2.4 points higher than the previous month's 21.6, which was the worst since April 2013 when statistics could be compared.

However, it is the second lowest index ever.

The Cabinet Office has stated that the basic tone of consumer sentiment has been "although it is still extremely severe, it is showing signs of bottoming out."
