Presstalis, a company which distributes newspapers and magazines, is in partial liquidation. To protest against this situation, the Book Syndicate, affiliated to the CGT, decided to block the publication of newspapers on Wednesday.

You may find it very difficult to find your national dailies this Wednesday. The Syndicat du Livre-CGT called for the newspapers not to appear, a movement that could well last. Already on Tuesday, the national daily newspapers and some magazines were not distributed in Marseille and Lyon.

A 35 million loan to correct Presstalis

Presstalis, which manages the distribution, filed for bankruptcy in late April. The situation is catastrophic for the distributor of the French press. A hearing Tuesday at the Paris Commercial Court helped put a solution on the table, but it does not concern all of current activity, which explains the protests of the Book Syndicate.

In an attempt to save what can still be saved, the State will grant a loan of 35 million euros to Presstalis, whose deficit is estimated between 500 and 600 million euros.
