Ricoh "Face Shield" production Provided to designated medical institutions for infectious diseases 14:23 on April 20

Ricoh, a major precision equipment company, has begun production of a new "face shield" while companies in different industries are starting production one after another due to lack of medical equipment.

Ricoh started production of face shields on the 20th at a printer manufacturing base in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture.

We plan to use 3D printers, etc., to produce 1,000 units this month and 8,000 units next month, with a total of 8,000 units. We plan to provide these to medical institutions designated as infectious diseases in Japan one after another, free of charge.

Ricoh has begun production of face shields at its production base in the UK, and is considering making production at other bases overseas and supplying it to each country in the future.

Face shields for doctors and nurses to protect themselves from flying have been pointed out to be in shortage at medical sites, and Toyota Motor Corp., Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and Honda have decided to start production, and there are concerns about shortages. In the case of artificial respirators, Sony has a policy of cooperating in production, and support from different industries is expanding.
