The catering department, which is one of the only food facilities certified ISO 17025 in the United Arab Emirates by the National Accreditation System (ENAS), ensures the preparation of foods according to the highest standards of health and hygiene through laboratory testing of food, water, hands and surfaces.

In this regard, Andrew Caines, General Manager of the Union Airport Services, Catering Division, said: "Through the high capabilities of the internal laboratory examination of foodstuffs, we can directly supervise the efficiency of the safety standards used in the face of Covid-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the catering department has prepared and distributed up to more than 15,000 meals per day to people who have been subjected to self-isolation or quarantine and the first line of defense from medical personnel, humanitarian effort teams and other labor institutions along the capital.

The department also provides necessary amenities for the union's employees who are in temporary self-isolation in the city of Masdar, so that they can work on cargo flights and evacuation flights. This includes cargo loading personnel, freight representatives, pilots and air hospitality crews.

In addition to the foregoing, meals are provided and delivered free of charge to the union staff needed in the housing allocated by the company.

Within the framework of the strategy to respond to the outbreak of the Corona Virus Outbreak, the Union’s Supply Division for Airport Services provided a comprehensive training campaign on safety, and 24-hour sterilization teams were allocated to all vital direct contact points, while restricting the access of unspecified individuals to these facilities, and installing heat detectors at all entrances To ensure that employees, visitors and suppliers are checked before entering.

It is worth noting that Etihad Airport Services, the catering division, was awarded the Excellence Award for the best catering service providers in the MENA region by the Quality and Safety Alliance Awards on board for the third year in a row, in addition to being a certificate of analysis.
