New car sales in the European Union fell, in March, by a record 55.1%, compared to the same month last year, in light of the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) stated, in its monthly bulletin, that about 567,000 new cars were registered last month, and that this number is less than half of the number of cars registered in March 2019. The association described this number as « Dramatic decrease, caused by the Covid-19 epidemic.

A spokeswoman for the association stated that this is the largest annual decline in European car sales, ever recorded. The data showed, on the association's website, that these numbers represent the worst sales volume recorded in March since 1990.
