Last month, the number of employed people decreased by 195,000 compared to a year ago.

The decline was the largest in 11 years since May 2009, during the global financial crisis.

The employment rate, which is the ratio of the employment to the population, also fell sharply in 11 years.

Due to social distance and postponed school opening, a service industry with many face-to-face contacts was hit hard.

The number of employed workers in the service industry decreased by 294,000, showing the greatest decline in 21 years and 6 months since September 1998, during the financial crisis.

168,000 in the wholesale and retail business, 109,000 in the lodging and catering business, and 100,000 in the education and service industry.

The impact was concentrated on the vulnerable. Temporary daily workers fell by 593,000, the biggest record ever, and women and young people also declined.

The prospect that the employment crisis is just beginning is dominant.

This is because the global economic crisis, such as the United States and Europe, is peaking, and employment shocks are likely to spread from service to export manufacturing.
