Affan Al-Khoury, the executive director of “Markets for retail centers” said that the electronic platform, which is affiliated with “Markets for retail”, has witnessed an increase in demand for its sales by rates that reached 800% since the beginning of March 2020 until now, compared to previous periods, pointing out that most of Applications across the platform focused on basic food and consumer goods.

Al-Khoury attributed the unprecedented growth rates in purchasing from electronic platforms to the current conditions, and the preference of a large number of dealers to buy daily needs through the platform, within the framework of a commitment to stay at home, to counter the spread of the Corona virus, stressing that delivery of orders takes place in various regions of Dubai .

In turn, the director of the Marketing and Happiness Department at the "Union Cooperative", Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, said that the online platform of the "Cooperative" has witnessed high demand rates since the beginning of March 2020 until now with rates exceeding 100%, compared to the periods that preceded March.

He explained that the increase in demand came with a large number of consumers turning to prefer buying through the online platform, especially from the youth category, as well as raising awareness of home compliance policies in the current period.

He added that the "Union Coop" provides home delivery of the request via its electronic platform on smart phones, or via the website, and it also allows grocery products to be delivered every two hours to different areas of Dubai, while the delivery of electronic goods takes place across the country within a period of four working days.

He pointed out that the minimum order is 100 dirhams, with delivery charges of up to 25 dirhams inside Dubai, and includes packaging operations with the use of safe sterilization methods upon delivery.

For his part, the general manager of the Ajman Cooperative Markets Association, Sami Muhammad Shaaban, said that the demand for the services of the electronic platform of the association witnessed, finally, unprecedented rates of demand, with high rates of up to 500% since the beginning of March, compared to the previous period, with preference A large number of consumers are currently shopping online.

Carrefour store chain management confirmed to "Emirates Today" that "Carrefour" data shows a significant increase in online shopping during March, compared to the same period last year.

The department pointed out that online purchases increased by 300%, as well as a 59% increase in the number of accounts created on the Carrefour online platforms, compared to the usual weekly rate.
