The Industrial Development Office of the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi, announced the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Local Content Program on some 1244 tenders, which were submitted by government and semi-government entities and companies, with a total value of 15 billion dirhams, through the procurement projects that were submitted during the first quarter This year.

The head of the department, Muhammad Ali Muhammad Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi, said in a statement yesterday, that “applying local content to bidding contributes to encouraging companies, which deal with government agencies in Abu Dhabi, to invest in the local market in the emirate in particular and the state in general, and will benefit Private companies, which invest in national products, local expertise and citizenship cadres, are a large part of a huge development projects package.

He stressed that government spending is one of the most important pillars of the economy, and is the main incentive to stimulate economic and social production, as the Abu Dhabi Local Content Program contributes to encouraging companies to continue to increase productivity and achieve the added value of the local product.

The department head explained that the program aims to direct this spending towards developing local products and services with all its components, at the level of the local economy of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

For his part, the Department’s Undersecretary, Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, stated that the Department of Industry Development of the Department, during the first quarter of this year, carried out a number of awareness workshops for about 60 government and semi-government agencies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, concerned with the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Local Content Program within its projects and tenders , Which is being launched during the current year, and has also sensitized more than 1500 people from representatives of the supply companies, while continuing to organize awareness workshops through social media and telecommunications systems, as a precaution for the status quo.
