  • Launch. The Government app, 23 days after the alarm state

"Hello! I welcome you to the citizen service on the Covid-19." This is how Hispabot is presented, the consultation channel that the Government has launched through WhatsApp and that uses artificial intelligence to provide answers to its users.

The objective of Hispabot-Covid19 is to "reduce the pressure on healthcare hotlines", although it is released 25 days after the decree of the state of alarm in which Spain is currently located. The tool uses one of the most common communication channels, WhatsApp, belonging to the social media giant Facebook.

This tool complements other recent launches sponsored by the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, belonging to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This same week AsistenciaCOVID-19 has been activated, an application accessible by mobile or via the web that is aimed at carrying out self-diagnoses, learning about recommendations, following up and completing in general the enormous need for information from Spaniards about this pandemic, although without being able to replace the professional criteria of the doctors.

Both Hispabot and AsistenciaCovid-19 are called to decongest the healthcare telephone networks, but they appear more than three weeks after the start of the alarm state.

The chatbot (a system simulates the development of a conversation with its responses) is accessible at (+34) 600 802 802 . Just save that contact and send a "hello" message to start using it. Hispabot may be asked, for example, about establishments opened for their essential activity or for the use of protective material. " The healthy general population does not need to use masks ", answers this number asked about it.

Hispabot-Covid19 has been created on WhatsApp Business API, using the global Vonage API communication platform and with Red.es as a point of contact. In addition, it has had the collaboration of the ONCE Foundation, which has evaluated the tool and made recommendations for its accessibility.
