In the middle of the confinement, during this Easter, the opening days of the supermarkets and the hours will be adapted to this festive period. Mercadona, Lidl, Alcampo, Dia, Carrefour, Aldi ... Each of these chains will open at different times depending on the day and the autonomous community. The sketch is not easy. The problem is that the holidays vary depending on the regions.

The Government warned some communities last week that, during Easter, they should maintain the business hours that existed before the state of alarm was decreed to avoid supply problems in the middle of the coronavirus wave.

Some regions wanted to change these hours in supermarkets , which means that stores will be closed for up to four days in a row, which could lead to problems with supplies. This closure so many days in a row will occur in Castilla-La Mancha and Cantabria.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, in fact, has launched the campaign baptized This Easter, plan your purchases , which encourages you to choose local commerce to continue reducing mobility and to educate the population to plan their purchases .

According to Aurelio del Pino, president of Aces (Association of Spanish Supermarket Chains), which represents the supermarkets of Auchan Retail, Carrefour Group, Eroski Group, Lidl and Supercor , the request "to the administrations, from the first day, is that allow greater freedom and flexibility of opening hours and days at Easter to continue serving customers, in a situation as complex as the current one in which capacity restrictions determine the operation of stores. "

"The stores of our associates will open within the framework of what the law allows, adapting their service to the supply needs of the millions of customers who are confined to their homes," says Del Pino.

This is the schedule of openings and schedules, by chains.

Mercadona

Mercadona will not open holidays, as usual. In each community it will depend on the established holidays. For example, Holy Thursday will not open in Madrid, but it will open in Catalonia or Valencia, because there is no party there. As for the schedule, it will be the same: from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Day

In Easter the Dia chain will close throughout the country on Good Friday and the rest of the days they will open depending on the legislation of each community. In other words, they will open on Maundy Thursday, Sunday and Monday with a holiday schedule.

At Dia Market and Maxi the hours on public holidays will be from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and at La Plaza and Dia & Go, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

To field

Holiday opening hours vary at closing. If it is now at 9:00 p.m., in hypermarkets it will be at 8:00 p.m. and in supermarkets it will always be (public holiday or non-public holiday) at 8:30 p.m.

The opening of the stores depends on each Autonomous Community. For example in Madrid it will be open every day.

Carrefour

Carrefour will open on Thursday and Good Friday in some autonomous communities (the hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and in others only on Thursday. On Saturday, which is not a holiday, they will open during normal hours, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sunday, the hours will be normal and the opening will depend on each autonomous community.

For example, in Madrid, which is a holiday on Thursday and Friday, since all holidays can be opened, they have hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturday, which is not a holiday, they are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lidl

With the aim of distributing the influx of customers to the stores over several days and thus avoiding possible crowds, Lidl will open its establishments during the Easter holidays in those Autonomous Communities where regulations allow it.

On Thursday more than 420 Lidl stores will be open, with hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the communities where this day is working. In which it is a public holiday but it is allowed to open it will open until 3:00 p.m. This schedule will be maintained on Friday, in a selection of stores in the Canary Islands, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Community of Madrid, Murcia and in the province of Almería.

On Saturday, working day, the total of 600 Lidl stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., while on Sunday only a few will be open until 3 p.m. Monday it will be opened during normal hours in the communities where it is working, while in the regions where it is a holiday it will be open until 3:00 p.m.

Aldi

Aldi has also adapted its schedules to the legislation of each community. In Madrid, for example, it will open every public holiday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will maintain its Sunday schedule from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In Catalonia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands, it will open on public holidays, Friday 10, Sunday 12 and Monday 13, in some stores, with a reduction in the hours from 9:00 to 14:00. On Saturday the 11th all establishments will open, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
