Starting today (5th), the punishment for those who violate the coronavirus infection-19 (corona19) self-containment rules has been significantly increased.

As a result of the revision of the Infectious Disease Prevention Act, those who violate the hospitalization or quarantine guidelines of the quarantine authorities are subject to imprisonment for not more than one year or a fine not exceeding ten million won.

Compared to the existing regulations that imposed a fine of 3 million won or less, the level of punishment has increased.

The quarantine targets set by the quarantine authority are those who have suspected symptoms of corona19, or who have been contacted by a confirmed person if they have been examined at a screening clinic.

Starting on the 1st of this month, all foreign nationals and foreigners who have arrived from overseas are also subject to quarantine for two weeks after entering the country.

As a result, there are about 27,000 people in the country who are self-contained in the past two days.

Of these, about 20,000 are from abroad and in quarantine.

In recent years, while cases of violation of the quarantine guidelines and outings have been caught by the authorities, the government is planning to punish them strictly according to regulations.

On the 3rd, in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, three foreign students of Vietnamese nationality left their mobile phones in self-isolated locations and were caught in the process of checking the landlines by the authorities.

In Busan, a woman in her 50s, who had been contacted with a confirming person and was informed of self-containment, violated the guidelines and walked through the park while walking through the park.

The government has already emphasized the principle of severely punishing violators of self-containment in accordance with the principle of 'zero tolerance'.
