The head of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Muhammad Ali Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi, issued a decision yesterday regarding violations and administrative sanctions on economic establishments in the emirate, to reduce violations of raising the prices of food and medical supplies without justification, monopoly practices, and refraining from selling, with a view to controlling markets and protecting the rights of Consumers.

The department stated that its decision is based on the directives of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The decision stipulated the imposition of a fine of 250,000 dirhams, amounting to two million dirhams in the event of a repeat offense, in the event of raising the prices of food and medical supplies in bulk or retail, without justification, or in the case of refraining from selling food or medical supplies in bulk or retail , Or a monopoly.

The decision grants the department the authority to temporarily close the violation facility, to suspend the license for a period of no less than a month, and not to exceed three months, to permanently close the facility, to seize the goods subject to the violation, and to dispose of them in accordance with the applicable legislation, and to refer the violator to the competent prosecution in the event that the violation is a crime punishable by law .

The decision also made it possible to file a grievance by the violating establishments within 60 days from the date of notifying them of the violation, provided that the department examines the grievance within 90 days from the date of the grievance, and it may reject the grievance, reduce the administrative penalty, or cancel it.
