Dutch media reported that Chinese-made masks were recalled for "unqualified"? Ministry of Commerce restores the truth

CCTV News: Come and pay attention to the news of the regular online press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce today (April 2). The Ministry of Commerce responded to recent reports that Dutch- made masks used by frontline medical staff at some hospitals were recalled due to "unqualified" in the Dutch media.

The relevant person in charge of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce stated that the Ministry of Commerce attaches great importance to this and conducts multi-party verification with local competent commerce authorities and relevant export enterprises as soon as possible.

According to relevant materials, the masks purchased by the Dutch company from my related companies are non-medical masks for personal protection. Relevant companies also explained when exporting that non-medical masks cannot be used for medical purposes or for medical staff working in intensive care units.

The person in charge emphasized that the Chinese government has always attached great importance to the quality and safety of medical supplies and strictly controlled related products. In the special period of epidemic prevention and control, in order to further strengthen the quality supervision of medical supplies and regulate the export order, the Ministry of Commerce in conjunction with the General Administration of Customs and the Drug Administration issued an announcement that related medical product exports must obtain China's medical device product registration certificate, which is in line with the importing country (Regional) quality standards required.

The quality and safety of medical supplies are directly related to human life and health. I hope that foreign purchasers will choose product suppliers registered with China's drug regulatory authorities and conduct corresponding quality inspections before using the products. They should be used in strict accordance with the scope of application and operating procedures. If there are related problems in procurement and use, it is recommended that the companies of the two sides properly negotiate and solve them according to the principle of commercialization. China is willing to work with the international community to create a good environment for the orderly export of medical supplies and better support the global fight against the epidemic.
