(Combating new crown pneumonia) China's rice wholesale price rose slightly by 0.2% from the previous month

China News Agency, Beijing, April 1 (Reporter Li Xiaoyu) The latest data released by the Ministry of Commerce on the 1st shows that from March 23 to 29, the country's grain prices rose steadily and moderately. Among them, the wholesale price of flour remained the same as the previous week, and the rice price was slightly lower than the previous week. Up 0.2%. This is the first time since March that the wholesale price of Chinese rice has risen sequentially.

Affected by the epidemic, many countries have begun to restrict wheat, rice, corn and other grain exports. Out of concerns about grain supply, some supermarkets and grain and oil markets in China have seen people “stock up”.

Wang Liaowei, a senior economist at China National Cereals and Oils Information Center, said that China's total grain output has stabilized at more than 650 million tons for five consecutive years, adequate grain reserves, and stocks of rations such as wheat and rice are at an all-time high. In the face of the epidemic, export restrictions imposed by major exporting countries may exacerbate fluctuations in food prices on the international market, but they have little impact on the current Chinese food market.

In addition, thanks to factors such as the continued expansion of imports and the increase in the central reserve of meat, China's meat prices fell in different degrees last week. Among them, the wholesale price of pork was 47.57 yuan per kilogram (RMB, hereinafter the same), a decrease of 2.1% from the previous month, and the wholesale prices of beef and mutton decreased by 0.2% and 0.5%, respectively.

Vegetable and fruit prices are mixed. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, the average wholesale price of 30 kinds of vegetables last week was 4.71 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 3.9%. Among them, cucumber, leek, and celery had the largest price reductions, all exceeding 9%. The average wholesale price of six fruits increased by 0.9%, with grapes and watermelons increasing the most. (Finish)
