The Government approved this Tuesday, within a comprehensive package of measures, a series of them aimed at protecting consumers to "guarantee their rights " in this context of the coronavirus pandemic and economic slowdown.

One of them involves limiting the advertising of the game during the state of alarm to the fringe of the morning, between one and five. "Given the context of exceptionality motivated by the Covid-19", the Government "will establish limitations within the framework of the powers of organization of the game," the Executive said in the royal decree that includes measures in the economic and social sphere.

This limitation is intended "to avoid the intensification of the consumption of online gambling (especially casino, bingo and poker games), which can lead to compulsive or even pathological consumption behaviors", especially in these weeks of confinement, in which, the Executive notes, limit the usual leisure activities.

In this sense, "commercial communications made by gaming operators at the state level will be limited, including entities designated for the commercialization of lottery games."

Travels

Other measures approved today and whose competition has consumption have been asking for it for weeks by consumer associations, such as the fact that users can claim the return of money for their tickets or trips to travel companies and agencies (or through vouchers). ) or suspend service contracts without penalty.

"In the case of the provision of services that include various providers, such as travel, combined, the consumer may choose to request a refund or make use of the voucher that the organizer or the retailer will deliver," said the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, at a press conference after the council.

They will have one year to use this bonus and if they do not use it, users can request a refund. In the event that the trip is combined and has been purchased from an intermediary, such as a travel agency, for example, you may request a refund of the money (and not the voucher) as long as the provider companies (the airline or the hotel ) has in turn paid the agency the amount of the services not provided.

Monthly payments

Regarding the contracts that consumers had agreed, either for the sale of goods or the provision of services, the execution of which is impossible as a result of the measures of the state of alarm, users may cancel the contract within 14 days.

These are, for example, one-time contracts, but also the monthly fees we pay for the gym, the language schools, the after-school classes ... (called successive tract services). Companies will not be able to charge the user the monthly fee after the activity ceases and, in addition, the consumer has the right to receive back the proportional part of the time that he has not enjoyed the service as a result of the state of alarm.
