The Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi has canceled the violations resulting from companies and institutions in the sectors of trade and industry registered with it at the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi totaling 246 million and 653 thousand and 900 dirhams for 72 thousand and 242 licenses in implementation of the economic initiatives package to support the private sector recently announced by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Within the "Abu Dhabi Development Accelerators Program Tomorrow 21".

This came in a circular issued by the Department based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, to enhance and support the role of the private sector in contributing effectively to achieving sustainable economic development by reducing the costs of exercising Business on him in the emirate.

The violations that were canceled by the department up to the date of the circular issued on March 16, 2020 included fees for delaying the renewal of the license amounting to 240 million and 987 thousand and 400 dirhams and violations of the uncollected department related to the practice of economic activities with a total value of 5 million and 666 thousand and 400 dirhams.

The head of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Muhammad Ali Al-Shurafa, said that this circular comes in response to these directives aimed at preserving Abu Dhabi's economic gains and supporting the private sector, especially startups, SMEs.

He stressed that this decision has positive repercussions on accelerating the pace of economic development in the emirate and reflects the keenness of the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to support the private sector in light of the current difficult conditions affecting the performance of companies and institutions.

The head of the department added: "We are working in accordance with the vision and guidance of the rational leadership of Abu Dhabi, as the department continues its continuous work in order to stimulate the business environment, and launch more specific initiatives that would support the local and foreign investor to expand and develop its business."

For his part, Undersecretary Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi said that the department’s strategy focuses on supporting the non-oil economic sectors and increasing its contribution to the gross domestic product of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, where these decisions come today as a proactive step to enable the private sector from the repercussions and economic changes that the world is going through and which focuses on providing Governmental support to reduce the expenses of commercial and industrial establishments in the emirate.

He stressed in the context of his statement that the department continues to study the challenges and requirements of private sector companies, which motivates them to continue to provide its investment activity in Abu Dhabi by enhancing its competitiveness at the local and regional levels and to increase the confidence of investors and business owners in the local economy and confirms the emirate's position as an optimal option to engage in various economic activities.

It is worth noting that the items of uncollected violations that the department edited against the violating licenses included in most of them non-compliance with the terms and conditions prescribed for the facility's headquarters, in addition to practicing additional activity without a license or without obtaining the necessary permission, and storing goods inside the facility or placing goods inside the corridors and interfaces And outside the store or inside the residential real estate, in addition to using the facility's headquarters or any part of it for housing and allowing smoking inside the gyms, restaurants and salons.
