The British government said today that the country's telecommunications companies have agreed to raise the maximum data limits on fixed-line broadband services that have become the lifeline of people isolated in their homes during the Corona virus crisis.

The companies, including (BT), Virgin Media, Sky and Tok Talk, pledged to support and protect customers during the pandemic after talks with the government and the UK Telecom Regulatory Authority "OFCOM".

Other measures include helping customers who have trouble paying bills as a result of the pandemic, improving mobile and landline packages to ensure that people stay in touch and prioritize troubleshooting for vulnerable groups of customers.

"It is imperative that people stay in their homes to protect the National Health Service and save lives, and this package helps people stay in touch while they are at home," Culture Minister Oliver Duden said in a statement to the government.

Many companies have already taken steps to support clients during the crisis, including making it easier for people at risk to access the information they need.
