The casualties of workers infected with coronavirus will be processed as cases of temporary disability due to an accident at work . The Government has taken this first measure that allows those affected to receive 75% of the regulatory base from the day following the leave of employment and whose cost is borne by the Administration, as reported by the Ministry of Social Security. In addition to the positive diagnoses, Social Security extends the condition of this discharge to people who are preventively isolated even if they are not sick.

"This means an improvement in the benefit for both isolated and infected people with the coronavirus, since 75% of the regulatory base , charged to the Administration, begin to receive from the day after the leave, " they explain from the department directed by José Luis Escrivá.

Likewise, the Council of Ministers has approved the moratorium on Social Security contributions corresponding to three consecutive monthly payments, for companies and self-employed workers, in geographical areas and sectors determined according to ministerial order. This means that, said contributions may be paid, within one year, from their accrual, without surcharges or interest of any kind.

But beyond these decisions, the Government continues without taking economic stimulus measures to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus. The Minister of Finance and Government spokesman, María Jesús Montero, said in the press conference after the Council that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will meet next Thursday with unions and employers, and that from that meeting will announce the possible actions.

CEOE has already stated that companies will need help, that the coronavirus will "affect" companies, and one of the ways of action could be the prosecutor. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) called on governments on Monday to act in this way and cited the example of Italy, which has already approved an aid package worth 3,600 million.
