"Cooperatives" in the country confirmed that they have begun preparing for the upcoming Ramadan season by expanding diversification of sources of supply and import, as well as providing multiple options for the most basic and most consumable commodities in Ramadan.

She stated to «Emirates Today» that the diversification of commodities created many alternatives for Chinese commodities, and also allowed an increase in the stock supporting discounts during Ramadan, stressing that the suspension of the import of some Chinese commodities will not have any negative effects.

High demand

The director of the Marketing and Happiness Department of the Union Cooperative, Suhail Al Bastaki, said that the cooperative has prepared early for the coming month of Ramadan, by diversifying the sources of importing various commodities and increasing the stocks, especially the basic consumer goods that witness high demand during Ramadan.

Al-Bastaki added that this coincides with plans developed by the cooperative to launch offers of competitive discounts, before and during the month of Ramadan, indicating that the rates of discounts in new offers will be greater, compared to the previous Ramadan season.

Increase inventory

For his part, the director of purchases and operations at the Emirates Cooperative Society, Walid Al-Maghrabi, stated that the society has finally implemented plans to diversify import operations and contract with various supply companies, in preparation for the upcoming Ramadan, noting that in addition to that, with the suspension of import of some food commodities Chinese origin concentrated in some vegetables, such as ginger, garlic and onions, or canned fruits and vegetables, contracted to provide more diverse alternatives from Arab and European countries, and at the same previous prices, if not less in some.

Al-Mughrabi explained that the association's plans to prepare for Ramadan include an increase in the private inventory of various food and consumer goods, to allow for the offering of extended discounts offers, before and during Ramadan, the details of which will be announced later.

He pointed out that the Ramadan season is considered one of the most important seasons in terms of increasing consumer demand, and therefore the association prepares early for Ramadan with sufficient periods, and in a manner commensurate with the circumstances and import variables.

In turn, the general manager of the Ajman Cooperative Markets Association, Sami Mohamed Shaaban, said that the association has prepared for the coming Ramadan season, through plans to expand the sources of supply, and to provide multiple options for consumer and food commodities, in addition to providing large quantities of goods stock and contracting the appropriate quantities for supply, Support offers of discounts, before and during the Ramadan season.

Shaaban pointed out that "Ajman cooperative markets" provided multiple alternatives from Arab and European countries for food commodities of Chinese origin, and for the prices of Chinese goods themselves, most of which were concentrated in varieties of fresh and canned vegetables.

He stressed that the suspension of imports of some Chinese goods would not have any negative effects, but rather stimulated retail outlets to increase product diversification, and thus more competitive Ramadan offers were expected.

The general manager of the Ajman Cooperative Markets Association, Sami Muhammad Shaaban, said that the early preparation plans to provide different alternatives, especially for Chinese or Asian goods from some countries, and expand the diversification of import plans, increases the offers of discounts that the association intends to put forward on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan season.
