A major airline company “Plastic waste and exhaust gas raw material” Aiming for practical use of fuel March 2 4:26

In response to the need to respond to global warming, major airlines are actively moving toward the practical use of aviation fuel, which uses plastic garbage and other raw materials, with low environmental impact.

Japan Airlines will work with major trading companies such as Marubeni and American companies to chemically treat plastic garbage that has not been recycled due to deterioration or dirt.

We plan to reduce carbon dioxide by utilizing garbage that has been incinerated until now.

After investigating the quality of fuel and whether it can be supplied in a stable manner, we plan to create a fuel production facility in Japan in the early 2020s and introduce it in earnest after 2025.

"The reduction of carbon dioxide in the aviation industry is urgently needed. We want to explore all possibilities other than fuel and reduce the environmental impact," said Kazutaka Ueno, Japan Airlines Fuel Group Manager.

In the aviation industry, companies will be required to respond to the introduction of international regulations on carbon dioxide emissions from international aircraft from next year. We are aiming to commercialize fuels made from raw materials.
