After it was an important tug of war in the investiture negotiations between the PSOE and United We can, the Government has announced that it will present "before the summer" a law that will allow the "price control" of the rental of homes in those areas who have experienced "exorbitant climbs."

This was announced by the Minister of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Agenda, José Luis Ábalos , in an intervention in the commission of the Congress, in which he has given account of his plans for the legislature.

"We do not want to look the other way. We will not be absent in the protection of the right to housing," said the minister, who has justified that an "extraordinary social problem" requires "bold" administrations and "exceptional" measures.

Therefore, he explained that he will take to Congress an initiative to limit rental prices in the most stressed areas in recent times due to strong increases. For its development in the coming months, it has promised to listen before "all the agents", also to the "private sector", in addition to social organizations and other public administrations.

Ábalos has justified that limiting rental prices means a " timely, weighted, assessed and proportional" measure . The minister has said he believes in it and has claimed it for supposing a defense of a "nuclear" and crucial "right, such as housing.

The socialist minister has warned that until now housing has been managed merely as a "market good" and the escalation of prices has caused a transversal and social problem that threatens, he stressed, the vital projects especially of young people because not They can become independent from their parents.

The initiative is complemented by other housing initiatives for the creation of more public housing and social rents.
