Kristalina Georgieva, director of the International Monetary Fund, said on Sunday that the Corona virus, which first appeared in China, will have negative effects on the global economy even if it is contained quickly, and it is wise to prepare for more of these repercussions.
In a statement after a meeting of financial officials from the Group of 20 countries, Georgieva called for coordinating efforts to contain the impact of the virus on people and the economy.
"We certainly hope for a quick end (of the outbreak), but taking into account the current state of ambiguity, it is prudent to prepare for more negative scenarios," she said in a statement.
