Beatriz Corredor resigned on January 13 as a deputy alleging lack of time to devote to that position, but has accepted her appointment as president of Red Eléctrica a month later.

The strange episode starts when Corredor, a personal friend of the current president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, remained as a deputy until the investiture session passed and resigned immediately after "for personal reasons," according to the official version. She herself told other members of the PSOE could not continue on the bench by the time requirement posed. The meager parliamentary majority that supports Sanchez demands a constant and punctual dedication to attend the voting.

However, Red Eléctrica de España (REE) yesterday informed the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) of the entry of Corredor as a director to be appointed as new president in replacement of Jordi Sevilla, resigned on January 27 - two weeks later that Corredor left the seat - because of the interference of the Vice President of the Government for the Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, which she denies.

The acceptance of the position in REE implies that Corredor considers the presidency of the electricity company - it is a non-executive position - less demanding than being a deputy in Las Cortes, but did not give an explanation yesterday about this strange chain of decisions of the last month .

In the back of his designation is the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in person. Corredor has been a personal friend of the socialist leader since they met at the Madrid City Council and has always supported him, even when he was overthrown in 2016 as secretary general. Corredor, current president of the Pablo Iglesias Foundation, and a member of the PSOE obtains the highest paid position of those decided by the Government - half a million euros annually - and theoretically assures more harmony than Seville with Ribera with whom he shares a position in the Executive of the PSOE

The current salary of the presidency of Red Eléctrica is half a million euros per year. Corredor was Minister of Housing with Zapatero and is currently Secretary of Territorial Planning and Housing in the Executive of the PSOE, jurist and property registrar. She lacks experience in the energy sector and Sanchez came to shuffle her as a candidate for the party to the Mayor's Office of Madrid last year .

Seville supported yesterday the designation praising the professionalism and "the own criterion" of Corridor.
