In recent days, there has been growing opposition to Donald Trump's plan presented last week for achieving peace between Israelis and Palestinians . The Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the European Union and the United Kingdom have all denounced measures contrary to international law, the European Union even assuring that an annexation would not be " without consequence ".

In Washington, Benjamin Netanyahu had assured that he would present the American plan to the Council of Ministers upon his return and that he would act immediately to annex the West Bank settlements to Israeli territory. He finally backed off , the US administration asking him to wait. But " we will not miss this chance, " says Benjamin Netanyahu, who now promises to act quickly after the elections.

But for this, the outgoing Prime Minister stressed that he must be re-elected. He therefore asked the voters of Likud to vote, hoping to mobilize in his favor a part of the electorate who does not want a Prime Minister indicted. But Benjamin Netanyahu remains under pressure from the right: the settlers' representatives have set up a tent near the Knesset, the Parliament, to demand an immediate annexation, with or without American support. " We are tired of being the ugly duckling of a right-wing government ," said the president of the Samaria regional council.
