Businessmen and investors from the UAE and Luxembourg in Dubai discussed yesterday the establishment of economic partnerships in several fields, including industry and information technology, in addition to medical care technologies, finance, Islamic banking and space.

This came during a meeting organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a high-ranking delegation from Luxembourg, headed by the Crown Prince of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Prince Guillaume.

Businessmen from both sides stressed the importance of enhancing opportunities for joint cooperation, noting the possibility of establishing economic partnerships in important economic sectors.

The Crown Prince of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg said, “On every visit to the country in general, and Dubai in particular, it is possible to observe the development and growth achieved by the state and the emirate.”

For his part, Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber, stressed that there are broad prospects for joint commercial and investment cooperation between the UAE and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, especially in key sectors of mutual interest.

He pointed out that "Dubai's non-oil trade with Luxembourg increased by 35%, to reach $ 69 million (254 million dirhams) in 2018, compared to 2013," pointing out in this field that there are potentials to advance bilateral trade exchange.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Health of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Eitan Schneider, stressed that the UAE is currently the most important partner of Luxembourg in the field of trade and investment in the Middle East, indicating that this partnership will develop for the better after the participation of Luxembourg in the Expo 2020 Dubai ».

In addition, the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg signed a memorandum of understanding on economic and technical cooperation between the two countries.
