Dubai Smart Department revealed the achievement of remarkable achievements within its plans to build a blockchain technology sector in Dubai, and to dedicate the emirate as a global capital for the development of this technology, pointing out that Dubai currently hosts more than 100 companies based on blockchain technology.

The department stated, at a press conference yesterday, that these achievements came from the Dubai Blockchain 2020 strategy, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, in October 2016.

According to the department, the achievements included the implementation of 24 cases of use of "Block Chain" in eight sectors, in addition to the launch of Dubai policies to implement "Block Chain" technology, and the first government-approved "Block Chain" platform.

The team revealed that the department is working with government agencies to implement 24 use cases of Blockchain technology, which includes eight different sectors: finance, education, real estate, tourism, trade, health, transportation, and security.

The Dubai Smart team stated that Dubai currently hosts more than 100 companies based on "Block Chain" technology, and that the "Block Chain" market grew by 24% during 2018, exceeding the global average of 19%.

The team also reviewed the most important successes achieved in the field of "Block Chain" technology, which contributed strongly to putting Dubai in the spotlight globally in this field, from winning the first smart city based on "Block Chain" technology during the "Smart Cities and Exhibition" in the city of Barcelona, ​​Spain, to the world Dubai headlines as the global capital of Block Chain.
