The Federal Tax Authority launched a simplified electronic platform to recover the citizens ’housing tax. The platform included 3 steps to submit the application, namely:

First: Create a account on the authority’s website
www.tax..gov.ae
Second: Create a new taxable account / special refund requests
Third: Submit a request for a refund of VAT for the new home.

The authority indicated that there are 4 documents required to complete the recovery form, which are:

- A copy of the applicant's registration summary.
- A copy of the applicant's Emirates ID.
A document indicating the building's occupancy history, for example the utility bill for water and electricity services
Building permit + completion certificate issued by the municipality.

The commission confirmed that the recovery form must be submitted to the commission within 6 months of the date of completion of the newly constructed housing.
