“We reject the extraterritorial effect of sanctions. This is unacceptable, ”the minister said in an interview with Die Presse.

According to him, the pipeline project does not infringe on the interests of Ukraine, and the United States introduced restrictive measures only for its own economic purposes without taking into account the position of Europe.

“But we cannot continue to use the methods of 30 years ago. The world has become multipolar, ”said Schallenberg.

Previously, Gazprom announced the availability of technological capabilities in Russia for the independent completion of Nord Stream 2.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that the construction of the project could be completed before the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2021.

In late December, the United States announced sanctions against Nord Stream 2. The Swiss company Allseas then suspended work on the project.
