A boost in the form of a "hotline". The Ministry of Labor on Thursday opened a hotline to help businesses, especially SMEs, calculate their index of professional equality between women and men. Reachable at 08.00.00.91.10 and called "Allo Index Ega Pro", this "hotline" is responsible for providing companies with 50 or more employees "a first level of response, for example the elements to be taken into account in the calculation of the index, "according to a press release from the Ministry of Labor.

An index for all companies from March 1

The index of professional equality will concern all companies with more than 50 employees from March 1st. Set up in March 2019 for companies with more than 1,000 employees, it was extended to those with more than 250 employees in September. It provides an overall score on 100 points and five criteria: the gender pay gap (on 40 points), the gap in annual increases (20 points), the gap in promotions (15 points), increases on return from maternity leave (15 points) and finally the presence of women among the highest salaries in the company (10 points).

Obligation to publish this index out of 100

Companies must publish their professional equality index on March 1 of each year in the form of a score out of 100, based on a self-assessment and without obligation to detail the result obtained for each criterion. In September, the Ministry of Labor indicated that 83% of companies had given themselves a score higher than 75, a threshold below which they have three years to regularize their situation. Otherwise, a financial penalty of up to 1% of their payroll may be applied. The main unions had criticized the chosen calculation formula, which because of certain elements (scale, weighting, relevance threshold) "masks", according to them, part of the pay differentials.
