The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has revealed that 1307 websites and content specific to the Internet have been blocked, falling under 15 categories of prohibited content during the first 10 months of 2019.

The authority stated, in a report, that pornography, nudity and vice sites ranked first with 374 sites, or 28.6% of the total prohibited sites, followed by Internet content and sites used in fraud, fraud and electronic phishing with 350 sites, which constituted 26.8%.

The sites that help bypass the blocking system and access to blocked content came in the third place, with a total of 178 sites, which constitutes 13.6% of the total blocked sites, followed by sites that promote drugs with a total of 134 sites with a rate of 10.2%, then sites and Internet content that promotes activities that violate the law in a total 115 sites, or 8.8%, and sites that violate property rights, with a total of 57 sites, 4.4%.

Sites that promote or allow access to illegal telecommunications services ranked seventh, registering 27 sites with a rate of 2.1%, then sites for breaching public order eighth with 26 sites with a percentage of 2%, and sites for promoting or trading in prohibited goods and services ninth with a total of 21 sites with a rate of 1.6 %, Then the sites of viruses and malware X, with a total of seven sites, at 0.5%.

According to the commission, six websites that promote discrimination, racism and defamation of religions have been blocked, making up 0.5% of the total, as well as four sites that promote terrorism, similarly promoting gambling, in addition to three sites that violate privacy, and a site that promotes medical practices and infringing drugs.

The commission noted that the first 10 months of 2019 did not witness the prohibition of any site that incites insult, defamation, defamation, prohibited domains, support for criminal acts and skills, or the prohibition by order of the judicial authorities or by law.
