Maintenance Shinkansen operating expenses Next fiscal year exceeding 80 billion yen Increase for the second consecutive year December 18th 4:33

The government has solidified its policy to include more than 80 billion yen, which is higher than the current fiscal year, in the budget for the next year's maintenance Shinkansen. This is the second consecutive year of increase because the project costs are increasing due to rising personnel costs in the sections under construction of the Hokuriku Shinkansen and Kyushu Shinkansen.

Of the maintenance bullet trains, the Kanazawa and Tsuruga sections of the Hokuriku Shinkansen and the Takeo Onsen and Nagasaki sections of the Kyushu Shinkansen / Nagasaki route have increased project costs by more than ¥ 340 billion due to rising personnel costs.

For this reason, the government has solidified its policy to include more than 80 billion yen in the next fiscal year's budget plan from the 79.2 billion yen this fiscal year for the operating costs of the three maintenance bullet trains in Hokuriku, Kyushu, and Hokkaido.

This is the second consecutive year of increasing the budget.

On the other hand, sections in Saga Prefecture where construction of the Kyushu Shinkansen and Nagasaki routes has not yet started are said to have been developed by the ruling party project team with “full standards” for all lines, but Saga is rebounding.

Therefore, in consideration of the Saga Prefecture, the government has decided not to record the cost of evaluating the environmental impact required before the start of construction in the budget plan for the next fiscal year.
