The value of foreign labor remittances in the UAE abroad amounted to approximately 124.4 billion dirhams during the first nine months of this year, compared to 129.33 billion dirhams in the same period of 2018.
Employment of four nationalities from South Asian countries, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Bangladesh, accounted for about 60% of the total transfers executed during the period from January to September of this year, and the value of their transfers amounted to 73.4 billion dirhams, according to statistics issued by the Central Bank.
The largest percentage of labor transfers in the country were carried out abroad through brokerage firms, at a value that reached approximately 98 billion dirhams during the period from January to September, while the rest of the amount was transferred through banks.
The value of remittances during the third quarter of this year amounted to 43.4 billion dirhams, an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period of 2018. The value of what was settled through banks decreased by 0.2%, while the value of transfers by exchange companies increased by 6%.
India is the most popular destination for employee remittances abroad from July to September 2019.
