Kotino's rice crops were “bad” across the board in Kyushu, including Saga Prefecture, while Hokkaido and Tohoku exceeded the normal, so the national average crop index was “99” on average.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has announced the rice crops for the first time since the harvest of new rice is almost over.

According to it, the production index with the normal year as 100 was 99 on average throughout the country, and it was “normal”.

Looking at each region, in Hokkaido and Tohoku, the index changed from 102 to 106, indicating “good” or “slightly good”, both of which were above normal.

Niigata Prefecture, which has the highest yield, was 100, “normal”.

On the other hand, all prefectures in the Kyushu region, Shikoku, and part of the Chugoku region were “bad” due to bad weather during the summer.

Especially in Saga Prefecture, the index was only 58 due to the damage caused by Typhoon No.17, making it a historical failure.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the production of rice for staple food nationwide based on the crop index is estimated to be 7.26 million tons, which is expected to decrease by 60,000 tons from last year. I don't think there will be any significant impact from the decrease.
