“Now they are close to completing the laying of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the commissioning of which will double the volume of possible supplies of Russian gas along the Baltic route,” Putin said.
According to him, this will be an additional contribution to meeting demand in Germany and other countries.
“I want to emphasize - this is a purely commercial project, the government does not actually take part in it, and so that there are no interpretations, I have already spoken about this many times, I want to say this again - this does not mean at all that Russia intends to stop transit through the territory of Ukraine, ”he added.
Earlier, the Austrian concern OMV announced the resumption of work on laying the Nord Stream 2.
The situation with the gas pipeline was also commented on by US President Donald Trump, noting that the US has not yet decided on sanctions on the project.
He also emphasized that the gas pipeline is an issue that “Germany itself must understand”.
