“If the gas transportation system of Ukraine is not loaded with Russian gas, in a couple of months it can be dismantled for scrap. People who serve the gas transportation system will be on the street, lose their jobs. Kiev needs to calculate all direct and indirect losses and understand what is more important for them - a titmouse in the hands or a crane in the sky, ”the deputy said.

According to Anansky, Ukrainian leaders should “ask their citizens what it will be more profitable for them to buy cheap gas directly from Russia, or expensive through several intermediaries.”

Earlier media reported that the European Commission advises Kiev to return to direct purchases of Russian gas in the amount of 15 billion cubic meters per year.

Naftogaz denied this information, adding that the EC gave recommendations to conclude a long-term contract with a significant amount under European rules and with the new Ukrainian GTS operator.

In Kiev, they stated that they were ready to consider the issue of resuming direct gas supplies on conditions favorable to both countries.
