Younger generations, those who grew up with a mobile phone in their hands and with Zara consolidated as one of the world's fashion icons, do not remember when Inditex was still a group that was expanding, opening new brands and even buying other fashion brands that made him shadow, as was the case with Stradivarius.

On this day, as of 1999, Inditex bought 90% of Stradivarius , one of its brands that invoices the most today. He paid 18,000 million pesetas to get her. It was a firm that belonged to the Triquell family, entrepreneurs of Catalan origin. Stradivarius was born in Barcelona in the 90s. First it was a shirt business and then it became a firm with a concept more similar to the current one.

Jordi Triquell was the architect of the project and, in fact, then ended up signing for Inditex as director of the brand. In 2005, Amancio Ortega's group acquired the remaining 10% of the company for another 15 million euros. He justified the operation on "the growth potential and commercial positioning" of the firm.

Berskha competition

At first Stradivarius was a competition for Berskha, the Inditex brand with a similar concept and audience, but in the end the group ended up repositioning them so that they did not compete for the same customers.

Stradivarius, in its beginnings, focused on an audience between "15 and 25 years," as the textile giant himself sold. Today is a brand "current and casual fashion, a reference of style for young spirits who are committed to a fresh and trendy look inspired by streetstyle," he says.

When Inditex bought Stradivarius, the chain had 75 stores. The following year, it began operating in three new international markets. A decade later, it already had 500 stores in the world. Today it has more than 1,000 spaces in 74 markets and its turnover exceeds 1,500 million euros.

Two years ago Inditex opened its new offices in Cerdanyola del Vallés (Barcelona). He also inaugurated the Stradivarius Man section, although shortly afterwards he had to park the project, which did not curdle.
