The National Court has charged the Spanish construction company FCC for paying 82 million euros in commissions to obtain awards in Panama. Judge Ismael Moreno attributes to the company the crimes of corruption between individuals and money laundering committed to obtain the award of the construction of two subway lines and the City of Health of Panama.

The facts now investigated began in 2017, following a complaint against a legal advisor of the Brazilian multinational Odebrecht , for possible commission of a crime of money laundering, bribery and criminal organization committed between 2009 and 2015. This company used Spanish screen companies to launder amounts from bribes paid by various construction companies, in exchange for awards.

At the request of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, the judge directs the proceeding against the mercantile FCC Construcción SA, FCC Construcción Centroamérica SA. Y Construcciones Hospitalarias SA. These three merchants have 5 days to appoint a representative, as well as a lawyer and attorney.
