Michel Aoun appeared tired, his features drawn and his voice weak, in a pre-recorded speech addressed to the Lebanese. The president endorsed the demands of protesters for the fight against corruption and illicit enrichment.

He called on the protesters to put pressure on MPs to pass laws he himself passed to the House demanding the lifting of immunity and bank secrecy from all accounts of politicians and politicians. senior officials, past and present.

" Only the recovery of public money looted in recent years is likely to restore the confidence of the people in his state, " added Michel Aoun. The president called on the judges to investigate corruption cases without delay, personally vouching against the pressure that could be put on magistrates to prevent them from going all the way.

A change of government envisaged

The head of state has left open the door of a change in the executive power calling for a " questioning of the current state of government ", amputated four of its thirty ministers after the resignation of party representatives Christian of the Lebanese Forces.

Michel Aoun said he was willing to meet representatives of the demonstrators to establish a dialogue in order to listen to their grievances and express their fears of an economic and financial collapse of the country.
