The number of cases is expected to increase further in future studies, and the road to recovery of confidence is likely to be steep.

The Japan Post Group has released an interim report of an internal survey covering approximately 183,000 contracts over the past five years that may be inappropriate.

Among them, 6327 cases were suspected of fraud, such as violations of laws and regulations such as giving false explanations to customers and violations of internal rules such as not properly explaining contract details. Of these, about 1,400 cases are suspected of violating the law.

In addition, an interim report of a special investigation committee prepared by an external lawyer was also announced, and there were inadequate procedures and mechanisms for checking inappropriate sales as factors that may have caused problems, as well as on-site sales. The company stated that sales targets were not set in line with their ability, and that there was inappropriate guidance called “how to guide” when promoting sales.

The company has been able to conduct internal investigations in less than 40% of the total so far, and the number of suspected frauds in future investigations is expected to increase significantly.

Japan Post Group is operating activities the rest of the year self-restraint of the insurance, but decided to step-by-step resume in prospect in January next year, way towards restoring confidence is going to be a steep one.
