The Japanese boss of Nissan, Hiroto Saikawa, the man who dropped Carlos Ghosn last November, resigned. Challenged in the motor vehicle and suspected of receiving wages he should not have touched, he was pushed to the exit.

After the resignation of Hiroto Saikawa , Nissan's Japanese boss, the former operations director will take over. A new leader must be found by the end of next month.

He must be a charismatic, inspiring personality, asked the head of the nominations committee. Apparently, no one is released. Above all, it will be necessary to restore order , prevent further scandals and end the practices of the past. The internal investigation launched after the arrest of Carlos Ghosn may not have yet revealed all its secrets.

The Renault-Nissan alliance beats the wing

It will have to be someone who knows how alliances work. Because if it is not the priority of the moment, it is the biggest challenge: to reinvent the marriage with Renault, in a context of crisis for the entire automotive sector.

The Japanese flagship is indeed at the worst. Profits have collapsed and production capacity is down. The French partner, which owns 43% of Nissan, looks worried. " An alliance can only be healthy when all the partners are in good health, " said Thierry Bolloré, Renault CEO at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Japanese disappointed with Saikawa

Few Japanese will regret Hiroto Saikawa. It has not kept its promise to turn Nissan around, which is showing catastrophic results. In addition, he violated the ethical rules of his business, while he allowed himself to give moral lessons to Carlos Ghosn. Many of his compatriots do not forgive him this double fault, according to the reactions collected by our correspondent in Tokyo, Bruno Duval .

These successive scandals have badly damaged Nissan's image. Sales plummeted. The share price has collapsed. Staff will have to be fired. I am worried about the future of this business.
