The Israeli Supreme Court agreed on Wednesday (September 5th) for the demolition of the Khan el-Ahmar Bedouin village in the occupied West Bank. A decision that, according to the Palestinians, makes the eventual formation of an independent Palestinian state even more complicated.

According to the decision of the Israeli Supreme Court, bulldozers will be able to begin the demolition of most of the village of Khan el-Ahmar a week after the green light of the jurisdiction. In principle, no legal recourse is possible. The court ended years of debate over the fate of the Bedouin village in the West Bank, east of Jerusalem in the immediate vicinity of settlements.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman praised the judges' decision as " brave ", " against the hypocritical attacks orchestrated by Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president - Ed] , the left and European countries ". The unified Arab list said in a statement that the demolition of the village will spell the death knell for any hope of creating a Palestinian state.

Several European governments, the UN and NGOs have lobbied against the evacuation of the Bedouin village, saying it would split the West Bank and remove any viable solution to the conflict. The question now is how will the evacuation be carried out and where will the members of the Bedouin Jahalin tribe again be transferred?
