Would the fight against climate change create wealth? This is the result of a study of international climate experts whose report is published on Wednesday. According to researchers at the World Commission on the Economy and Climate, gains for the economy and jobs would be huge.

$ 26 trillion by 2030. This is what the evolution of our economic model would bring to a greener, less carbon emitting economy. With 65 million more jobs generated compared to the current trend.

States could reap additional revenues, notably by removing fossil fuel subsidies. The price of carbon is expected to increase significantly, in order to more effectively combat greenhouse gas emissions.

Certainly, states do a lot for these transformations, but they could do more. The report argues for accelerating investments in sustainable infrastructure, such as energy networks, transport, water supply and buildings.

As such, banking and development institutions should double their current investments , bringing them to $ 100 billion a year over the next two years. Private companies are encouraged to innovate for the climate.
