"We do not show technology as evil, but human weakness"

The publisher of the books Choose your own adventure "has denounced the Netflix digital platform for an alleged offense of infringement of a trademark with the interactive film Bandersnatch of Black Mirror , as reported by the specialized media Variety.

The suit, filed in a court in Vermont (United States), ensures that Netflix has taken advantage of and "has benefited" , although there is no agreement between the companies, to associate this film with the famous children's books in which the reader can choose which direction the story takes.

"It is causing confusion and staining, denigrating and weakening the distinctive quality of the Choose Your Own Adventure brand," said the Chooseco publishing house, responsible for that book collection.

Bandersnatch , which debuted on December 28 on Netflix, is the latest installment of Black Mirror , a successful television series about the dangers of the future and technology.

As a novelty, Bandersnatch allows viewers to decide in some points of their audiovisual narration how they want the story to continue.

The lawsuit contends that one of the protagonists of the film explicitly refers to a novel that he is reading as a book of Choose Your Own Adventure .

The editorial also argues that the "dark and violent issues" of Bandersnatch have nothing to do with those of their books, so this association hurts them .

Also, Chooseco says that in 2016 Netflix began negotiating with them the possibility of obtaining a license to use the books in interactive content such as movies and cartoons. However, and always according to Chooseco, the negotiations did not come to fruition.
