59%. This is the share of French people surveyed in the framework of an Odoxa survey who say they support the end of employment for life in the public service. In the same vein, 78% say they are "rather in favor" of "putting in place a voluntary redundancy plan in the public service" . An expression regularly used by the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, Gérald Darmanin, although the reform of the public service to come provides rather sustainable arrangements for assistance at the beginning, without opening windows as in the private.

The decline in the number of civil servants wins a month of membership

On the issue of pensions, 73% of those surveyed are "rather in favor" of an "alignment" of the plans and the "end of the special pension schemes" of civil servants. A proposal in line with the universal retirement system announced by the executive, in which "one euro contribution will be worth the same rights for each French" .

In terms of compensation for public servants, 63% of respondents favor "merit bonuses " , one of the axes of the forthcoming civil service reform. A smaller majority (54%) of respondents are in favor of the "overall decrease in the number of civil servants," one of Emmanuel Macron's campaign promises, which has set a target of 120,000 job cuts by 2022.

This opinion poll was conducted by BFM Business, Challenges and Aviva Assurances. The questions were asked on the Internet on October 30 and 31, 2018 and cover a sample of 988 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over.
