Emirates said it had canceled its flights to Osaka from September 4 to 5 because of the closure of the airport due to Hurricane Jeppe, adding that it would provide options for redirecting to Haneda airport for passengers who had already started and started their journey.

Travelers will not be accepted at the original departure destinations on cancellations affected by the hurricane, the airline said on its website, noting that it is closely monitoring the situation and requiring customers to visit its website for details of the bookings.

Earlier in the day, Japan advised more than a million people to evacuate and canceled hundreds of flights in the face of strong winds and torrential rain as Hurricane Jebe reached its central and western coast.

In some areas, the waves recorded the highest rise since a 1961 hurricane caused by the waters of Kansai International Airport in Osaka, the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (JTR) said.
