The Ministry of Economy announced yesterday the launch of two car recall campaigns, including 1076 Kia-Picanto and Mercedes-Benz vehicles of various models, for maintenance and inspection following the discovery of manufacturing defects.

The first campaign includes the recall of 1,033 Kia-Picanto cars, manufactured from 1 March 2011 to 30 June 2012, in cooperation with Al Majid Motors, the exclusive local dealer for Kia cars in the UAE.

The ministry said in a report that the call, which is being made after contact with Kia Motors Corporation, aims to replace the fuel hose in the vehicles included in the campaign to avoid leakage of fuel. Al Majid Motors has initiated contact with the consumers of maintenance vehicles To inform them of the current situation and to reserve the dates of bringing cars for maintenance.

The second campaign included the recall of 43 Mercedes Benz cars, including 42 GLS / GLE 166 models, the GLE Coupe model 292 of the 2018 model, and one E class cabriot model 382 model 2018, in cooperation with Gargash Enterprises And Emirates Motor Company, for a defect in the rear brake system.

The Gargash Enterprises and Emirates Motor Company have already contacted the relevant dealers to inform them of the start of the inspection campaign, and the repair process is free of charge.

The Ministry noted that these two campaigns come within the framework of its commitment to follow up all products offered in the country markets, in order to protect the consumer from any damages that may be incurred.
